Angel Food
Our Angel Food Ministry makes available quality groceries to Living Word members and the Katy area once per month at a heavily discounted price. "Angels" make groceries available free of charge to families in need. Anyone may purchase food and it helps people experiencing temporary periods of financial difficulty or those on fixed incomes.
We serve our community by providing grocery relief to our neighbors and enjoying the fellowship of one another. This "Blessing in a Box" is our way of expressing God's love for all.

Angel Food Dates & Order Information
Opportunity: Many helpers are needed one Saturday each month converting bulk pallet loads of groceries into individual boxes and loading them into vehicles. Team members can assist in various tasks before, during and after the distribution day each month. There are opportunities to serve on the planning team as well. Enjoy a morning of fun and fellowship with old friends while making new friends at the same time. Due to concerns for quality control and safety, participation should be limited to those over 12 years of age.

Angel Food’s History
Angel Food began in Monroe, Georgia. In 1994, Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo found their hearts going out to the families of many of the local families in Monroe affected by the recent industrial plant closings. On their back porch, the first Angel Food distribution fed 34 families. Over the next years, other churches wanted to get involved, and Angel Food began feeding hundreds of families across the southeast. Now, Angel Food feeds over 500,000 families a month in 35 states. Praise the Lord for his faithfulness!
